In 2004, two sculptors, Gil and Dave, started a small concrete countertop studio called Aberrant Designs. We loved to create, and thought that the fluidity of concrete would be perfect for creating our unique architectural designs. After a couple of years of using concrete first hand, Gil was never truly satisfied with the inherent flaws that concrete provided. Being very passionate about his work, Gil started to research and develop a new material that would satisfy his desire to produce a more unique luxury product.
In early 2007, Dave left Aberrant Designs, and started his own concrete studio in Fort Worth, Texas. Dave and Gil remain great friends.
Soon after Dave left, Gil produced his very first Magnesium-Ceramic sink. The look was refined, the technology had ancient origins, and the finished product satisfied his need to produce a luxury architectural line with an environmentally conscious quality.
Our evolutionary process continued when the small studio of Aberrant Designs became Aberrant USA and introduced an exclusive line of Magnesium-Ceramic architectural products. Balancing the harmony between unrivalled quality and environmental consciousness.
In 2009 Aberrant USA became simply, “Eko”. The name Eko, as simple as it is, speaks volumes for what our company embraces ... Style . Beauty . Harmony . Eco conscious.
Eko utilizes 100% recycled glass sands in all of our luxury products. The use of this product helps to divert glass bottles, containers from entering into our rivers, lakes and landfills. There are also no chemicals such as water reducers, plasticizers, latex, acrylics or post industrial chemicals (fly ash) in our Eco-sensitive “living” cast stone products.
Our Magnesium-Ceramic binder (the part that hold all of the other materials together) is made from natural, biodegradable minerals. These minerals, when water is added, form a gel that subsequently crystallizes to form our Eco-Ceramic. Because of the mineral pigments and the natural movement of our binder as it crystallizes, our designs have a varied color mottling that is ornate and uniquely different than every other product on the market today.
